Some wedding days are defined by grand gestures and elaborate details. Others are defined by the people. Shona and John's wedding at Dunkeld House Hotel was very much the latter.
From the moment I arrived, it was clear that family was at the heart of everything. The day was filled with hugs, laughter, proud smiles, and moments that remind you what weddings are really about. There was a warmth to the entire celebration.
Set amongst the beautiful Perthshire countryside, Dunkeld House Hotel provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxed and welcoming wedding day. Surrounded by their nearest and dearest, Shona and John celebrated in a way that was completely true to them, with plenty of laughter, lots of happy tears, and a dancefloor that stayed busy well into the evening.
A Day Filled With Family, Laughter and Love
One of my favourite things about documentary wedding filmmaking is capturing the moments that happen naturally throughout the day. The glances between family members, the spontaneous laughter during speeches, and the little interactions that might otherwise be forgotten over time.
Shona and John's wedding was packed with those moments.
Whether it was guests catching up with loved ones, children enjoying the celebrations, or everyone coming together to celebrate the newlyweds, there was always something happening. The atmosphere throughout the day felt relaxed and genuine, allowing everyone to simply enjoy being together.

A Relaxed Approach to Wedding Filmmaking
My approach to filming weddings is always to blend into the background and let the day unfold naturally. Rather than directing moments or turning your wedding into a production, I prefer to quietly capture the story as it happens.
That approach felt particularly fitting for Shona and John's wedding. Their day was full of authentic moments, genuine emotion and plenty of personality - exactly the kind of memories that deserve to be preserved naturally.
