Stuart and Gemma's wedding at Broxmouth Courtyard brought together family and friends from Scotland, Australia, and beyond for a brilliant day in East Lothian.

Set within the beautiful grounds of Broxmouth Courtyard near Dunbar, their wedding had everything I love about filming weddings: good people, a relaxed atmosphere, plenty of laughter, and a couple who were completely focused on enjoying the day with their family and friends.

Stuart & Gemma's Broxmouth Courtyard Wedding

With Gemma originally from Australia and Stuart from Scotland, guests travelled from across the world to celebrate with them. There was a real buzz throughout the day as family and friends gathered together, many seeing each other for the first time in years and others meeting for the very first time.

From the moment guests arrived at Broxmouth Courtyard, there was a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The venue provided the perfect backdrop for a day that felt personal, joyful and completely centred around the people who mattered most.

What stood out most wasn't any one big moment. It was the feeling throughout the day. Conversations between old friends, family members catching up, plenty of laughter and a genuine sense that everyone was exactly where they wanted to be.

As a wedding videographer, those are the moments I love to capture most.

A Beautiful Wedding Venue in East Lothian

Broxmouth Courtyard is one of East Lothian's most distinctive wedding venues. Located near Dunbar within the grounds of the Broxmouth Estate, it combines beautiful stone buildings, landscaped grounds and modern facilities while still feeling relaxed and welcoming.

The courtyard creates a brilliant focal point for the day, giving guests plenty of space to gather while maintaining an intimate atmosphere. Everywhere you look there are beautiful backdrops, whether that's the historic architecture, the surrounding gardens or the open spaces around the estate.

For wedding films, it offers the perfect balance. There are countless opportunities for natural footage throughout the day without couples ever feeling like they're being taken away from their guests for long periods.

It's easy to see why so many couples choose Broxmouth Courtyard as their wedding venue.

Guests Travelling from Across the World

One of the things that made Stuart and Gemma's wedding particularly memorable was the number of guests who had travelled to be there.

With family and friends making the journey from Australia, the day felt like far more than a wedding. It felt like a reunion, a celebration and a chance for people from different parts of the world to come together.

There was a lovely energy throughout the entire day. Every hug seemed a little longer, every conversation a little more meaningful and every toast a reminder of how much effort had gone into bringing everyone together.

Those moments don't always make the schedule, but they're often the moments people remember most.

A Relaxed, Documentary Approach

My approach to wedding videography is always focused on capturing the day naturally.

Rather than directing every moment, I prefer to observe what is happening and document it as it unfolds. That allows couples to spend more time enjoying their wedding and less time worrying about the camera.

Stuart and Gemma made this incredibly easy.

We took a short walk together for a few portraits around the grounds before heading straight back to the celebrations. The rest of the day was simply about documenting the story as it happened.

The laughter during the drinks reception, the emotion during the ceremony, the reactions during speeches and the countless little interactions that often become the most meaningful moments when couples watch their film back years later.

Why Broxmouth Courtyard Works So Well for Wedding Films

Some venues naturally lend themselves to documentary wedding filmmaking and Broxmouth Courtyard is definitely one of them.

The flow of the venue means guests can move easily between different parts of the day while remaining connected to the celebrations. Everything feels close enough together that there is never a sense of separation between the formal moments and the informal ones.

For couples who value spending time with guests, this makes a huge difference.

The beautiful grounds also allow for natural couple portraits without disappearing for hours. Stuart and Gemma were able to enjoy a few quiet moments together before returning straight back to the people they'd travelled so far to celebrate with.

It's exactly the kind of environment where genuine moments happen naturally.

Thoughtful Details & A Fantastic Team of Suppliers

The day looked incredible thanks to a fantastic team of suppliers who helped bring everything together.

From the floral arrangements by The Petal Shoppe to the styling by Allure Collective and 88 Events Company, every detail complemented the venue beautifully. The ceremony and reception spaces felt elegant without ever feeling overdone, perfectly matching the relaxed atmosphere of the day.

Behind the scenes, Clementine Weddings ensured everything ran smoothly, allowing Stuart and Gemma to simply enjoy themselves and spend time with their guests.

As always, it was a pleasure working alongside such a talented group of wedding professionals.

The Evening Celebrations

After dinner and speeches, the celebrations continued well into the evening.

With live music providing the soundtrack, the dance floor quickly filled and stayed busy for the rest of the night. There was no shortage of energy, laughter or questionable dance moves.

These are some of my favourite moments to film because they're completely genuine. Everyone is relaxed, the formalities are over and people can simply enjoy being together.

For couples watching their wedding film years later, these moments often become some of the most treasured. Seeing friends and family enjoying themselves, remembering conversations they missed and reliving the atmosphere of the day.

Australia Meets Scotland at Broxmouth Courtyard

What made Stuart and Gemma's wedding so memorable wasn't the distance people travelled or the beautiful venue, although both certainly helped.

It was the feeling of togetherness throughout the day.

Family and friends had gathered from Scotland, Australia and beyond to celebrate two people they love. The result was a wedding that felt relaxed, joyful and completely authentic from beginning to end.

These are the weddings that stay with me long after the final film is delivered.

If you're planning a wedding at Broxmouth Courtyard or anywhere else in Scotland and you're looking for a relaxed, documentary-style wedding videographer, I'd love to hear from you.

I focus on capturing weddings naturally and unobtrusively, creating films that allow you to relive not just how your wedding looked, but how it felt.
