Laura and Nicky share a quiet moment together in the gardens at The Cruin, with the beautiful Loch Lomond setting creating a natural backdrop to their wedding day.

Laura & Nicky’s wedding at The Cruin on the banks of Loch Lomond was a brilliant day from start to finish. With the loch and surrounding hills providing an incredible backdrop, the setting was naturally beautiful, but it was the people and atmosphere that really made the day.

The Cruin is such a lovely place to film a wedding. Being right on Loch Lomond gives you those spectacular Scottish views, while the venue itself has a relaxed feel that works perfectly for a wedding where the focus is on spending time with family and friends.

Laura & Nicky’s day had that same relaxed feel throughout. There was plenty of laughter, lots of little moments between the big ones, and a really lovely atmosphere as everyone came together to celebrate with them.

Morning Preparations

The day began with Laura and Nicky getting ready surrounded by family and friends, with all the usual excitement and anticipation building towards the ceremony.

These quieter parts of the day are always some of my favourite things to capture. The finishing touches, the details, the nerves and excitement, and those moments when everything starts to feel very real.

Laura’s dress from Bijoux Bridal was beautiful, with the finishing touches coming together alongside hair by Natalie and makeup by Ryan McCrum Makeup and Glam by GG.

The flowers from Vanilla Rose Flowers and the carefully considered styling from Say I Do Weddings also helped bring everything together, creating a really beautiful setting for the day.

Working alongside McLellan Photography was also a pleasure. Having a relaxed team of suppliers around you makes such a difference when filming a wedding, allowing everyone to get on with enjoying the day while we quietly capture what is happening around us.

A Loch Lomond Wedding at The Cruin

With family and friends gathered together, Laura & Nicky’s ceremony was one of those lovely wedding moments where everything else seems to disappear for a little while.

The setting at The Cruin makes for a particularly beautiful backdrop, with Loch Lomond and the surrounding landscape adding something very Scottish to the day without needing to do anything at all.

For me, these are the moments that make wedding films so special. The smiles, the nerves, the laughter and the little glances between a couple that happen naturally throughout the ceremony.

I much prefer to step back and let those moments happen rather than trying to manufacture them. It means the finished film feels like a genuine reflection of the day rather than a collection of staged moments.

Confetti, Portraits & Time Together

Once the ceremony was over, it was time to properly celebrate.

There were congratulations, hugs, plenty of laughter and time for Laura & Nicky to enjoy being newly married with the people around them.

One of the things I love about The Cruin is the variety of the setting. You have the loch, the surrounding landscape and the venue itself, giving plenty of opportunities for some beautiful couple portraits without needing to take the couple away from their guests for too long.

The flowers, décor and little details continued to add to the atmosphere throughout the day, but it was the spontaneous moments between everyone that really brought the film to life.

A friend making someone laugh. Family members catching up. A quick hug. Someone watching Laura & Nicky from across the room.

Those are often the moments that don't seem particularly important at the time, but become some of the best things to look back on years later.

A Beautifully Styled Reception

As everyone came together for the reception, all the different elements of the day started to come together.

The styling from Say I Do Weddings, stationery from A Little Bit of Loveliness and cake by Kayleigh's Crumbs added plenty of personality to the room, while the flowers from Vanilla Rose Flowers carried through the natural, elegant feel of the day.

There was a lovely sense of occasion, but without anything feeling too formal or overdone.

For me, that's always the balance I'm looking for when filming a wedding. The details matter, and they're part of what makes each wedding unique, but ultimately they're there to create a backdrop for the people and the memories being made.

Music, Dancing & Celebrating

As the evening celebrations got underway, the atmosphere changed completely.

Cammy Miller Music provided the soundtrack as everyone relaxed into the evening, with the dance floor becoming the centre of attention as the celebrations continued.

There's something I particularly enjoy about filming this part of a wedding. By this point, the formalities are over, everyone knows everyone, and people are simply enjoying themselves.

The dancing gets a little more energetic, the laughter gets louder and those natural, completely unplanned moments become even more frequent.

They're also some of the moments that can be hardest to remember afterwards - which is exactly why they're worth having in your wedding film.

Laura & Nicky at The Cruin

Looking back at Laura & Nicky's wedding, it was the combination of everything that made the day so memorable.

The setting at The Cruin was incredible. The flowers, styling and details were beautiful, and there was a brilliant team of suppliers helping everything come together.

But, as with every wedding I film, it was the people that made the biggest difference.

Laura & Nicky were a pleasure to spend the day with, and the warmth of their family and friends came through in all the little moments throughout the day.

This is exactly why I love filming weddings. The finished film isn't just about remembering what your wedding looked like. It's about being able to go back and remember how it felt.

Laura & Nicky, thank you so much for inviting me to be part of your wedding day. It was a genuine pleasure to spend the day with you both, and I hope your wedding film brings back all the laughter, emotion and happiness for many years to come.
