Beautiful Spring Wedding at Achnagairn | Emma & Ali | 21.03.2026
The happy couple during their Spring wedding at Achnagairn Estate.
Emma & Ali’s wedding at Achnagairn Estate was my first of the year, and it couldn’t have been a better way to start the season.
After the quiet of winter, stepping back into a wedding day filled with sunshine, laughter and that familiar buzz of anticipation was just what I was needing after a winter in my editing cave. From the moment I arrived, there was a calm excitement in the air - the kind that builds naturally when two people who are clearly meant to be together are about to get married.
Achnagairn in the Spring
Set just outside Inverness, Achnagairn is one of those venues that always leaves an impression. The grounds were just starting to show the first real signs of spring, with softer light, fresh greens, and guests able to enjoy being outside between moments of the day.
Inside, the famous ballroom was set for the ceremony, filled with flowers, candles and the kind of atmosphere that makes people go quiet the moment they walk in. The vaulted ceiling and huge stone fireplace create a space that feels both grand and incredibly warm at the same time.
A Day Full of Smiles
Emma & Ali were simply beaming all day. They’re one of those couples who never seem to stop smiling at each other, and that energy spreads quickly - to their families, their friends, and eventually to everyone in the room.
The morning was relaxed and full of laughter as everyone got ready in different parts of the estate, with music playing and people drifting in and out of rooms to check on progress. It set the tone for the rest of the day: unhurried, joyful, and completely focused on being together.
When Emma walked into the ballroom, you could feel the shift in the room. Ali’s reaction said everything, he had seen his bride in their pre-ceremony ‘first look’, but still there was a perfect mix of nerves, pride and excitement - and it’s moments like that which are the heart of a wedding film.
A Ceremony in the Ballroom
The ceremony itself took place beneath the wooden beams of Achnagairn’s iconic ballroom. With natural light pouring in and candles flickering around the room, it felt both intimate and cinematic at the same time - a rare combination that makes the space so special for weddings.
Emma & Ali kept things personal and relaxed, with plenty of laughter woven into the vows and readings. Guests were fully present, smiling through tears one minute and laughing the next. It was the kind of ceremony that reminds you why weddings matter so much in the first place.

Exploring the Grounds for Couple Portraits
After the ceremony, we took a short wander through the grounds for their couple portraits. Spring light in the Highlands has a softness to it that works beautifully on film, and Emma & Ali were completely at ease together. There was no stiff posing, just a quiet walk, a few laughs, and the occasional pause to take it all in.
That natural connection is always what I’m hoping to capture. Rather than directing heavily, I tend to give couples space to just be themselves, which results in moments that feel real rather than staged.
Speeches, Celebrations and a Packed Dancefloor
The rest of the day flowed seamlessly into the evening. The ballroom was transformed for the wedding meal, and speeches brought a perfect mix of heartfelt stories and well-timed humour. There were plenty of emotional moments, but just as many laughs - exactly what you hope for in a set of speeches.
As the sun faded outside, the atmosphere inside only grew. The dancefloor filled quickly, and it stayed full, which is a sure sign of a good wedding with guests determined to make the most of every minute together.
A Brilliant Team of Suppliers
Weddings like Emma & Ali’s are always the result of a great team working quietly behind the scenes. From the planning and styling to the flowers and music, everything perfectly selected and it all came together effortlessly on the day, allowing the couple to simply enjoy it.

A Beautiful Start to the Season
Every wedding season has a first day that sets the tone for the months ahead. Emma & Ali’s was full of everything I love about filming weddings. There was genuine emotion, relaxed moments, and a couple who were completely present with each other and the people around them.
