A Cosy Timber Yard Wedding in Edinburgh | Gemma & John | 03.10.2025
I had the privilege of filming Gemma & John’s wedding on the 3rd October 2025 at the beautifully rustic Timber Yard in Edinburgh. Despite Storm Amy raging outside, their day felt warm, connected, and utterly perfect for them.
About the Wedding
From the moment I arrived, the vibe was clear: cosy, welcoming, intimate. Gemma & John focussed on their love surrounded by the people who mean the most to them in a beautiful setting in the heart of Edinburgh.
Inside The Timber Yard, guests chatted under gentle lighting, smiles were easy, and the feeling of togetherness was everywhere. Even though we stayed indoors the whole time (thanks to the storm), the atmosphere never felt constrained, it felt safe, comfortable, and full of warmth.
About the Venue
Having both the ceremony and reception inside The Timber Yard was actually a blessing in disguise. Its exposed timber beams, natural textures, and warm lighting made it the perfect storm shelter.
Florals played a star role: a stunning hanging centrepiece floated above the reception space, and lush arrangements added life everywhere. The combination of wood, floral touches, and warm light made every corner feel thoughtfully curated. And the food was simply spectacular - hearty, comforting, and beautifully presented.
The Couple & Their Day
Gemma and John were the definition of relaxed. There was no rushing, no pressure, they took it all in at their own pace, soaking up meaningful glances and quiet moments with ease.
Because Storm Amy forced us to stay indoors, I leaned into filming handheld and discreet, capturing genuine emotions and closeness. It became a story about the small interactions, laughs between friends, a comforting squeeze, a pause to just look at one another.
For their portraits, we slipped away briefly to the Portrait Gallery. It was a beautiful change of scene which provided a perfect grand contrast to the rustic vibes of the Timber Yard.
