A Relaxed September Wedding at Falside Mill, Fife | Robyn & Robbie | 26.09.2026
Robyn and Robbie share a quiet moment together on the farm road at Falside Mill, looking into each other’s eyes. Their relaxed embrace captures the natural, intimate feel of their September wedding in Fife.
There was something particularly lovely about Robyn & Robbie’s wedding at Falside Mill. It was relaxed, unhurried and completely centred around having a brilliant day with the people they love.
Set in the Fife countryside near Kingsbarns, Falside Mill is a beautifully restored steading with plenty of character and a great connection between its different spaces. The courtyard, ceremony spaces and reception areas all sit naturally alongside one another, which helps create the relaxed atmosphere that made this wedding so enjoyable to film.
And after a fairly unpredictable September, Robyn & Robbie were lucky enough to get a really good pocket of weather by the coast for their wedding day.
For me, this was exactly the kind of wedding I enjoy filming most. Nothing felt overly staged or formal. There was plenty of time to enjoy being together, with all the little moments and interactions happening naturally around the day.
Morning Preparations
The day began with all the usual excitement of getting ready, with the finishing touches coming together before the celebrations properly began.
Robyn looked incredible in her wedding dress from GwennE Weddings, with her hair styled by Karolina Simpkins Bridal Hair and makeup by Nikki Marshall.
There is always something I enjoy about this part of the day. Before the ceremony, everything is still building towards what is to come - the little details, the anticipation and those quieter moments with family and friends.
It also gives me the opportunity to capture the details that will become part of the story of the day later on. The dress, flowers, rings and all those small pieces that might seem insignificant at the time but help bring the memories back when you watch the film years later.
A Relaxed Wedding at Falside Mill
Falside Mill provided a brilliant setting for the day.
The restored stone steading has a lovely balance of rustic character and modern spaces, while the courtyard gives everyone somewhere to gather, chat and enjoy the celebrations outside.
For Robyn & Robbie, the whole day had that same relaxed feeling.
Rather than trying to manufacture moments for the camera, I was able to simply move around and let things happen. A smile between the two of them, friends catching up, family enjoying themselves and all the little interactions happening in between.
That is always my favourite way to film a wedding.
I want the finished film to feel like the day actually felt - rather than a collection of staged shots created specifically for a camera.
The Ceremony
With their family and friends gathered around them, Robyn & Robbie's ceremony marked the beginning of the celebrations.
There is always something special about watching a couple take that step together, surrounded by the people who have travelled to be there for them.
These are the moments where I tend to step back and let things unfold naturally. The anticipation beforehand, the reactions from family and friends, the little looks between the couple and everything that happens immediately afterwards.
They are the moments that make a wedding film feel personal.
Drinks, Celebrations & Time Together
After the ceremony, it was time to relax and enjoy being married.
With the September weather playing ball, there was a great opportunity to make the most of the surroundings at Falside Mill and spend some time outside with friends and family.
One of the things I loved about this day was how little pressure there seemed to be to rush from one part of the wedding to the next.
There was time to talk, laugh, have a drink and simply enjoy being together.
And those are often the moments I find most rewarding to capture.
A quick conversation between friends. A family member laughing in the background. A quiet moment between the couple. Someone completely forgetting there is a camera nearby.
Those little pieces of the day are what help bring the atmosphere back when you watch your wedding film.
Beautiful Details
The flowers from Penelope Fleur Florist added to the relaxed feel of the day, while the cake from Liggys Cakes provided another lovely detail to capture.
I always enjoy filming these details, but they are never the main story for me.
They form part of the bigger picture - the things that make the day look like your wedding, alongside the people, atmosphere and moments that make it feel like yours too.
An Evening of Music & Celebration
As the day moved into the evening, the atmosphere naturally changed.
The formal parts of the wedding were behind them and everyone could simply settle into the party.
With Mobile Beats providing the music, the dance floor became the focus of the evening and the relaxed atmosphere of the day gave way to the kind of celebrations that make great footage.
There is something brilliant about watching a wedding party loosen up as the evening goes on.
The dancing gets more enthusiastic, the laughter gets louder and everyone is simply enjoying themselves.
These are the moments where wedding films really come alive.
One of Those Weddings I Love to Film
Looking back at Robyn & Robbie’s wedding, it is the overall feeling of the day that stands out to me.
It was relaxed. It was fun. It felt genuine.
There was no need to overcomplicate things. The focus was simply on celebrating their marriage and spending time with the people who mattered most to them.
And that is exactly the kind of wedding day I love to film.
I have always preferred a more natural approach to wedding videography. I don't want couples to spend their wedding day performing for a camera or constantly being directed into position.
Instead, I want to be there quietly, capturing the things that happen naturally.
Because when you watch the film back years from now, I think those are the moments you'll want to remember most.
A Fife Wedding at Falside Mill
Robyn & Robbie’s wedding was a brilliant example of what I love about weddings at Falside Mill.
A beautiful setting, a relaxed atmosphere, great suppliers and, most importantly, two people who were able to enjoy their wedding day with the people they love.
Robyn & Robbie, thank you so much for having me there to capture it. It was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with you both, and I hope your wedding film brings back all the laughter, happiness and atmosphere of the day for many years to come.
