A Beautiful Family Farm Wedding in Fife | Katie & Paul | 2025.07.05

Bride and groom kissing under confetti at relaxed farm wedding in Fife, Scotland

Katie and Paul’s wedding was exactly the kind of day I love to be part of - relaxed, focussed on family, and full of fun. They got married at Katie’s parents’ farm just outside Dalgety Bay in Fife, with the most incredible views over the Firth of Forth and the three bridges.

It was totally unique to them. They took the things they love and incorporated them in to their day. They took the wedding traditions that suited them and let go of the ones that didn’t - a beautiful marquee, stunning wildflowers, food trucks serving their favourite delicious grub, incredible musicians and a whole lot of love poured in by the couple (with help from some brilliant suppliers). After building a life together over many years, they didn’t originally plan to get married, but after having their wee one and getting engaged (with a beautifully planned proposal from Paul), it all came together - and I’m so glad it did.

A Love Story Close to Home

Katie is one of these people whose energy fills the room - friendly, warm, funny and always happy to muck in. Paul is her perfect counterpart: calm, relaxed, and quietly grounded. Their story wasn’t one of years of planning or Pinterest boards. It was real and natural - they had a baby, got engaged, and now here they were, getting married in the most personal of places: her family’s farm surrounded by the people who mean the most to them and their “Big Handsome” St Bernard dog, Foley.

Why a Family Farm Wedding in Scotland Just Works

The setting was the perfect fit for Katie and Paul’s laid-back vibe. The farm sits high on a hill just outside Dalgety Bay in Fife, with views that stretch right across to the Forth bridges. It’s not a wedding venue in the traditional sense - just a family home that turned into something extra special for one day.

Katie organised most of it herself, and everything had that personal, homemade feel. With rustic touches like wooden pallets, a marquee from @bestintentmarquees, florals by @poppyfloraldesign, and food and drink by @pollys_pantry, the day came together beautifully. Guests were properly spoiled on the food front - with Mac & Cheese from @thestockbridgemacandcheeseco, a Hog Roast from @spittingpig, and incredible tacos from Katie and Paul’s favourite local spot @stickman.foodco, who don’t usually cater weddings but (after Katie using her signature charm) made a special exception just for them.

A Windy but Wonderful Wedding Day

The weather kept us guessing - it was dry and mostly sunny, but with a strong wind that never really let up - kept the midges away if noting else! Enough sunshine that everyone could enjoy the beautiful outdoors and stunning views in comfort without the need for extra layers or fans to cool them down - perfect! Luckily, the ceremony was held inside the marquee, and it felt genuinely warm and welcoming, filled with family and special friends.

Capturing Genuine Moments

I had the privilege of both filming and photographing the day, which I love doing - especially when the day is as relaxed and full of heart as this one. Weddings like Katie and Paul’s align so well with what I value: capturing real moments without intrusion. There were kids running about, their lovely dog Foley enjoying the fun, and guests soaking up the laid-back vibe. It felt like what a wedding should feel like.

A Wedding That Felt Like Them

The whole day had such a lovely, relaxed energy. Paul is super laid-back, and Katie was right in the middle of everything, chatting to guests, making sure everyone felt welcome and dancing her heart out! The speeches were a mix of heartfelt and hilarious, and we managed to squeeze in a fun photo dash just before the first dance with the help of @theapollosgroup wedding band.

As someone who films and photographs weddings in Scotland, this kind of day really speaks to me. No stress, no stiff posing - just people having a brilliant time with their favourite folk in a place that means something.

A Day to Remember

Katie and Paul’s wedding wasn’t about perfection - it was about them. About starting this next chapter of their lives surrounded by their favourite people, in a place full of meaning, on a day that felt like home.

If you’re dreaming of a farm wedding in Scotland that feels relaxed, family-first, and totally personal, this is proof that you don’t need a grand venue to have something amazing. Katie and Paul’s day was exactly what a wedding should be - real, joyful, and full of love.
